Buddha was once asked who he was.
He was asked, “Are you an angel?” and he said, “No.”
“Are you a saint?” and he said, “No.”
“Are you a great teacher?” and he said, “No.”
“Then who are you?” and he said, “I am awake.”
So today is an opportunity for us to practice being more wakeful. To be awake is to recognize the miracle of aliveness. We can be awake and, instead of trying to find miracles, realize everything is a miracle.
I am reminded that being awake means that some of the time we will get a little bit sleepy. Each one of us has an internal snooze alarm which is simply our intention to stay awake.
So today we are awake to the miracle and we find it everywhere.
